Our Trip to Fighting Word
Today on Thursday 8th of December my class and I went to the Fighting Words workshop in Drumcondra. We travelled on a fresh smelling bus and got there at 9:56 a.m. When we arrived we got our own name tag and pictures (don’t forget to smile!). At first it was a very small room but when we said the magical password we walked into a huge room.
A kind woman named Leah greeted us with comfy pillows to sit on. First, we picked the main character of our story, then the setting, then his/her greatest fear. Finally we picked the main character’s best friend. This was all chosen by a fair vote. The illustrators’ names were Helene and Virginia. They were amazing at drawing!
We started to make a story as a class, but then we got to finish it ourselves. We all got a copy of the book with a picture of yourself on the back and all the illustrators pictures were in it. We also got our own bag to keep.
We all want to thank the volunteers and helpers for making it such a wonderful time and I would say that we would love to go again.
My favourite part about the trip was the magical password bit and when we got to write our own ending to the story.
