Seachtain ns Gaeilge 2026

We had a fantastic week celebrating Seachtain na Gaeilge in St. Benedict’s! Each morning began with daily videos as Gaeilge, recorded by nine wonderful students from 6th Class who did a brilliant job sharing the language with the whole school. Ms Dunning also sent out amazing and fun Gaeilge resources for everyone to enjoy each day.
Our 6th Class pupils stepped into the role of teachers, visiting classes from Junior Infants to 2nd Class to play games and read stories as Gaeilge. It was wonderful to see the younger students learning and having fun through Irish.
Throughout the week we also enjoyed yoga, games and lively céilís. We finished our celebrations with a fantastic Lá Glas Assembly, where classes performed and we all sang and danced along together.
Well done to everyone who took part and helped make Seachtain na Gaeilge such a special week in St. Benedict’s! 🍀

Seachtain na Gaeilge

As part of Seachtain na Gaeilge, we had a fantastic week where all our children embraced all that that is wonderful about Irish Culture.  The children learned some great Irish songs and dances and took part in a variety of events from colouring competitions, quizzes, arts and crafts and dancing.

A huge thank you to Mr Downes for organising such a fun and successful week which celebrated our beautiful language.   Bhí seachtaine iontach againn agus comhghairdeas mór le gach duine a ghlac páirt.

We will continue to promote the use of Gaeilge in our school and we encourage parents at home to use a cúpla focail when they can.
