EU Digital Funding
St Benedict's school received a grant in 2021 to implement initiatives aimed at addressing the digital divide and support our learners at risk of educational disadvantage as a consequence, as part of the Irish National Recovery and Resilience Plan (NRRP) a project under the Recovery and Resilience Facility funded by the European Union through NextGenerationEU. This funding was used to purchase interactive whiteboards for every classroom and provided a substantial number of Chromebooks and iPads for student use. These purchases have been instrumental in supporting pupils by transforming teaching and learning. Interactive whiteboards foster dynamic and engaging lessons, allowing teachers to present multimedia content, facilitate collaborative activities, and instantly save lesson materials for review, benefiting visual and kinesthetic learners alike. The provision of Chromebooks and iPads has empowered students, particularly those who previously lacked access at home, with devices for research, project work, and accessing online educational resources, promoting independent learning and ensuring more equitable access to digital literacy skills.
